HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Christian County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Shannon Lane as Director of Military Affairs filling the position of Kristi Murtha who accepted a position at Fort Campbell.
Lane is a retired Army Veteran having served 21 plus years with 8 years at Fort Campbell. His education includes an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Operations through Cochise College, Aviation Mission Survivability, and several leadership schools as a Non-Commissioned Officer and US Army Warrant Officer. He brings a strong relationship network at Fort Campbell and a background in Operations/Program Management to the role of Director of Military Affairs. Most recently, Lane was an Aviation Warrant Officer responsible for the day-to-day operations, logistics, personnel and resource management.
“I am most impressed with Shannon’s energy, passion and ideas that will continue the elevated momentum Kristi created for the MAC program,” says Taylor Hayes, president / CEO of the chamber. “He will be an enthusiastic ambassador sharing our vision as a place that values hospitality, promotes inclusion and opportunity for people of all backgrounds including our military friends. I want to thank Kristi for her dedicated efforts. She remains an advocate of Christian County and continues to assist that will provide a smooth transition for Shannon.”
In his new role, Lane’s responsibility will be to maintain and strengthen relationships with Fort Campbell, the military community and military advocacy groups, organize and coordinate Military Affairs Committee (MAC) activities and functions, advocate at the local, state and federal levels for policy that better the lives of our military families, and market our community as a military friendly community and retain and recruit military families to Christian County.
Holly Hampton, chair of the Christian County Military Affairs Committee added, “I am confident the combination of Lane’s military experience, knowledge of Fort Campbell and excitement for Christian County will provide the means to build on our momentum. He understands the MAC mission and will serve as an amazing advocate for Fort Campbell and our military families. He is also eager to share what our community has to offer to our Fort Campbell neighbors.”

Shannon and his wife Kristine, also an Army veteran, have six kids and live in Christian County. He will officially start Monday, September 11, 2023.
