PEMBROKE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Residents in Pembroke are still working to dispose of left-over debris from the tornado breakout on Memorial Day weekend. After weeks of assistance from emergency services and the county, rounds of debris pick up are happening throughout the city.

Pembroke Mayor Jeanette Aldridge confirmed that additional trees and limbs were picked up along the main road through the city on June 27, and they are now moving on to cleanup other streets. They are continuing to work with Christian County Emergency Managment, and coordinate with the county to facilitate pickups.

The EF-2 tornado that caused the damage made its track through Christian County for 19 miles with 115 mph winds resulting in massive power failures and damage to powerlines, structures, farming equipment, and trees. The Pembroke Fire Department was heavily involved in the initial cleanup to make sure the roads and homes were accessible and safe.
