HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Citizens will notice street and business closures around downtown Hopkinsville as the city prepares for this weekend’s Hoptown Summer Salute. Kicking of Aug. 23, the two-day festival will feature a kid’s zone with bouncers and slides, a beer garden, dozens of food trucks and vendors, and Parmalee headlining a Saturday night concert.
Road closures will begin Thursday Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. Ninth Street between Seventh Street and South Main Street will be closed to traffic and street parking, and Bethel Street will be closed between Seventh Street and Tenth Street. These roads will remain closed through 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The Christian County Justice Center will be closed Friday, Aug. 23 to allow the concert stage to be set up in the parking lot. Regular hours will resume Monday. Seating for the festival concerts will open at 5 p.m. on Friday with The Jimmy Church Band taking the stage at 6 p.m. Saturday night will welcome the festival’s headlining band, Parmalee, at 8 p.m., opened by Tyler Booth at 6 p.m.
The Hopkinsville- Christian County Public Library will also be closed Friday and Saturday.
During the Hoptown Summer Salute, the Pennyroyal Center will have The Yellow Tent set up for individuals with sensory issues to take a break and escape the overstimulating environment. The tent will be open for children and adults, and Pennyroyal Center staff will be onsite to offer support.
