HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – All of Greenville Road has been reopened in Christian County after it was closed due to a drainage tile collapse which caused a significant hole in the roadway. The roadway was blocked between Antioch Church Road and Deason Lane on Sept. 10, with work concluding on Sept. 11 around 11:00 a.m. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said they needed to replace a deteriorated drainage pipe.

“The highway was closed after a deteriorated drainage pipe led to a small void beneath KY 107, which caused a depression to form in the asphalt resulting in a hole, much like a pothole,” explained a news release from KYTC. “Deterioration of highway cross drains can occur because age of the pipe, weather, or other environmental factors.”

The Christian County maintenance crew cut through the roadway to remove and replace the pipe, and it has since been covered with asphalt and set overnight.
