HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Fire Department along with the city gathered Friday morning, Nov. 8 for the groundbreaking of the new Fire Station 5, located at 101 Walton Way.
“It’s been 25 years since we opened a fire station here in Hopkinsville,” said Fire Chief Steve Futrell. “Station 5 allows us to better serve our industry partners, residents, and help us reduce our response times. During emergencies seconds matter.”

In addition to expanding coverage for the community, the station will be equipped as a training facility with a training tower. “This station will allow our firefighters to train in realistic high-pressure scenarios enhancing their skills and making sure they are better prepared for the emergencies they may encounter,” said Futrell.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R Knight expressed his excitement about the new development saying public safety is one of his top priorities. “All we have is our first responders in our front line and I praise them. We cannot do without them and we have to make sure they have the support they need so they can do their job.”
