OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two Oak Grove Police officers received The Life Saving Award during the Oak Grove City Council meeting on Nov. 6. Dennis Cunningham, Chief of Police, presented the award to Officer Jose Alba and Officer Danielle Adams for their direct actions in saving the life of another person.

In a Dec. 2020 incident, Adams was dispatched to a scene where a victim had been stabbed and was bleeding profusely. While waiting on backup, Adams applied critical first aid and secured the scene by herself. “This is a daunting task for any officer,” said Cunningham. “Her actions contributed to saving the life of the victim and they go above and beyond any officer.”

On a separate occasion in June 2024, Officer Alba was faced with an incident involving a suicidal individual. In an emotional speech, Chief Cunningham said, “This award is for your outstanding performance and lifesaving actions. They reflect the highest standards of conduct of law enforcement and protection.”

Mayor Jackie Oliver thanked the police department for everything they do, and Councilwoman Jean Leavell said “We don’t realize everything that goes on and happens in Oak Grove. We don’t give our police officers enough credit. We all appreciate you very much.”

A third Oak Grove Police officer, Brad Martin, was also awarded a plaque for his dedicated service for the last five years. Cunningham shared that Martin in moving to another state to further his career.
