HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Fire Department and Christian County Sheriff’s Office both warn the community of phone scams soliciting money and personal information.

A similar phone scam was reported in August involving CCSO. This time, the caller is claiming that the recipient has a warrant out for their arrest due to missed jury duty. The caller claims to be Lt. Scott Smith or Maj. Ricky Burgess with the intent of gaining personal information or money. The CCSO reports that the current numbers they are calling from are 270-987-3468 and 270-987-3268.

Separately, the Hopkinsville Fire Department also reported a similar scam. According to HFD, residents have received calls asking to solicit donations on behalf of the Hopkinsville Fire Department. HFD posted on Facebook to remind the community that the department has never, and would never call to solicit donations.

The Sheriff’s Office on Facebook encouraged the Hopkinsville community to share this scam with others to help put it to an end. “There are still people in our community that are falling for this. Education leads to you keeping your hard earned money.”
