HOPKINSVILLE, KY – On Thursday, Christian County Public Schools announced the launch of a new mobile early learning classroom, “The Cub Cruiser.” The mobile classroom, a refurbished decommissioned school bus, will serve as a vessel to bring early childhood learning awareness to the community. The new mobile early learning classroom was made possible by a $100,000 grant the district was awarded earlier this year.

“We are excited to bring the Cub Cruiser and early learning opportunities to all of Christian County,” said Assistant Superintendent Jessica Addison. “Early learning lays the foundation for lifelong success, giving students the tools and advantages they need to thrive. Our community is fortunate to have a dedicated space for early learning on wheels, bringing these vital opportunities directly to our youngest learners.”

The Cub Cruiser is a classroom on wheels, designed to provide enriched early childhood learning experiences for children ages five and under across our community. The goal of the mobile classroom is to connect families of early childhood education and caregivers with information on available resources and support programs. Additionally, the bus will assist CCPS in locating, identifying and evaluating children who may be eligible for preschool. Kaitlynne Bolinger, the district’s School Readiness Coordinator is the primary facilitator of the mobile classroom.

Kaitlynne Bolinger said the district is thrilled to bring this innovative learning opportunity directly to families in our community. “I look forward to meeting families and providing hands-on, developmentally appropriate lessons on the bus that model effective strategies for parents, offer interventions and resources aimed at increasing our kindergarten readiness rates,” said Bolinger.

A public open house will be scheduled later this spring. Upcoming events featuring the bus can be found on the Kindergarten Readiness Facebook Page. The Cub Cruiser will make its debut this Saturday in the Hopkinsville Christmas Parade.
