HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The third annual Christian County Literacy Council Spelling Bee took place last week on Sept. 26 in Hopkinsville. This yearly event is known to challenge local, young minds and promote literacy in the city.
Fifty-seven spellers between 1st and 8th grade came out to compete. Prisha Shah, Jackson Faulkner, and Vedang Patel, came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the grades 6-8 Division.


Maanya Patel, Alex Luther and Sarah Jackson, came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the grades 3-5 Division.
This annual competition started back in 2021 with only 35 contestants. During registration Beth Brockman, the chair of the event said, “The Spelling Bee is a fun way to promote literacy in our community and bring awareness to the Literacy Council at the same time. We are excited this program has continued with enthusiasm and community support.”
