HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A statement from the National Weather Service in Paducah predicts that arctic air is descending across the county, bringing in very low temperatures next week.
NWS forecaster Justin Gibbs told Christian County Now that following a heavy rain event coming through on Friday, a strong cold front will be moving in. Anticipated wind chill may bring down temperatures to the single digits and teens. Gibbs added that they will know more about the impending weather in the next few days, but snow is possible early next week.

Temperatures last year
According to climatological data provided by the NOAA, in 2024 the average high for February was 60 degrees, with an average low of 36 degrees. Toward the end of the month, temperatures were rising to the high 60s, peaking at 76 degrees on Feb. 26, 2024. The lowest temperature for the month was 16 degrees in mid-February. No snow was reported for that year.
Are the patterns repeating? The data shows that February gradually got warmer in 2024, while the opposite seems to be occurring this year. Looking a few days ahead, Monday will see a high of 35 degrees, dropping down to 22 overnight.
