HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two waves of storms are moving through the area this weekend, with the primary threat to Christian County coming on Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, widespread thunderstorms are expected Friday evening and overnight that are likely to be severe with damaging winds upwards of 70 mph. More storms will occur Saturday with additional damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes possible. NWS in Paducah says this threat is primarily focused across west Kentucky and southwest Indiana. Flash flooding may occur as well.

Here’s the day-by-day outlook.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a south wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.
Friday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 1am and 4am, then showers after 4am. Low around 61. South southeast wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Saturday: A chance of showers before 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Saturday night: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. West northwest wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. West northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
