OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Community Development Services met on Tuesday to discuss the preliminary planning of a plat of land for the upcoming development of Echo Ridge phase III.

This 55 block, 17.19 acre subdivision is located approximately 400 feet south of Good Hope Cemetery Road and 1,500 feet east of Highway 115 in the City of Oak Grove. One ongoing concern for residents has been the potential for a major increase in traffic generation due to the new builds.

“This development has a potential, with 55 single-family homes, to generate an additional 526.35 trips per day,” said a CDS representative. A motion was made to forward the preliminary plat for Echo Ridge phrase III provided that it follows suit with stormwater management ordinances for the City of Oak Grove.

Previous discussions about development

Oak Grove Public Works Director Brian Ahart previously told Christian County now that Phase I of the development would include the construction of 50 homes.

In March, residents of nearby Avondale Road in Oak Grove first voiced their concerns about the subdivision during an Oak Grove City Council meeting. At the time, several community members spoke to council members about the dangers that increased traffic poses to families on the surrounding street, suggesting that the city applies for a grant to help fund the installation of sidewalks in the area. Mayor Jackie Oliver agreed she would look into grant options.

The next Community Development Services Meeting will take place on Monday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Hopkinsville Municipal Building.
