HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Check out events going in throughout Christian County this fall extending from September through the end of October. Whether you are looking to run a marathon, go trick or treating, or ring in autumn with local events, there is something for everyone.

Butterfly Festival in Oak Grove

  • When: Sept. 6 from 12-4 p.m.
  • Where: War Memorial Walking Trail
  • Details: Each year during the festival in Oak Grove, hundreds of people gather to watch the release of over 2,000 butterflies, while also having the opportunity to step inside a butterfly house and garden.

38th Annual Trail of Tears Pow Wow

  • When: Sept. 6-7 at 10 a.m.
  • Where: Trail of Tears Commemorative Park
  • Details: This celebration of Native American culture will host various tribes from across the country for a weekend full of delicious food, beautiful cultural dancing, and vendors. Grand entry will be held on both days at 1 p.m., where the dance and drum competitors lead a procession to kick off the performances.

Summer Salute Festival

  • When: Sept. 12-13 from 11 a.m.- 10 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Hopkinsville
  • Details: Free concerts from Saved by the Music, Shining Star: A Tribute to Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Frontmen, and headliner Easton Corbin. Plus, both days will have plenty of food trucks and vendors, and a weekend full of family activities.

Hoptown Makers’ Market

  • When: Sept. 14 from 12-4 p.m.
  • Where: 110 John Rives Road
  • Details: A community of local artisans, bakers, crafters, and creators are coming together for a day of shopping, fun, and connection. Shop unique, handmade items, grab a bite from local food trucks, and enjoy live music while supporting small businesses.

Kentucky Shakespeare in the Park

  • When: Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Hopkinsville Greenway Amphitheater
  • Details: This free public production of The Tempest is presented as part of the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s smARTS program. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and friends to enjoy this unforgettable performance of one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

The Great Pages Circus

  • When: Sept. 19
  • Where: Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds
  • Details: Aerial acts, clowns, and juggling feats, there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget the four-legged stars: liberty ponies, majestic horses, and camels! And for those craving edge-of-your-seat excitement, the famous Pages Globe of Death might just rev up the adrenaline with some high-speed motorcycle madness.

Hoptoberfest

  • When: Sept. 20 at 12 p.m.
  • Where: Hopkinsville Brewing Company
  • Details: Join them for the 9th annual Hoptoberfest celebration! They’re bringing back their signature beard competition, and stein-holding competition. Adding something for the brainier competitors this year: an adult beer-themed spelling bee where beer-drinking is not only allowed but encouraged. Food by Camo Caravan.

Demolition Derby

  • When: Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds
  • Details: By Mike’s Crash and Bash Demolition Derby, prepare for a fun night of vehicle carnage with cars both big and small battling it out.

38th Pennyrile Senior Games

  • When: Sept. 22-24
  • Where: Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex
  • Details: Fun activities and healthy competition for residents over the age of 50. Door prizes, bingo, food, and more offered during this multi day event.

Art After Dark

  • When: Sept. 25 from 4 p.m.- 9 p.m.
  • Where: Various downtown Hopkinsville businesses
  • Details: Experience arts, culture, and entertainment in Downtown Hopkinsville! Participating businesses will be hosting local artists and musicians showcasing their work – stroll from one location to the next, grab a bite to eat, visit the Farmers Market, and enjoy everything Downtown Hopkinsville has to offer

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Campanile Productions

  • When: Sept. 25-28
  • Where: The Alhambra Theater
  • Details: Local actors involved Campanile Productions will bring this beloved musical to the stage with several live performances planned.

Ye Olde Book Wyrm Renaissance Faire

  • When: Sept. 27 from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Where: Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library
  • Details: The library will be transformed into the medieval era full of knights and queens and dragons. There will be live fencing demonstrations, costumes, ax throwing, and musical performances.

Howl-O-Ween

  • When: Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Where: Christian County Animal Shelter
  • Details: Cats and dogs will be available for adoption with reduced fees, with a lot of activities set up for families including pumpkin painting, a bouncy house, vendors, and food. There is also microchipping and nail clippings for pets.

Hoptown at Night

  • When: Oct. 4 starting at 5 p.m.
  • Where: Founders Square in downtown Hopkinsville
  • Details: Founders Square will come alive with live music from The Alonzo Pennington Band and DJ Prep. Guests can sip, shop, and stroll through the Downtown Entertainment District as the music and festivities continue late into the night.

Five Nights at Freddys: Free movie night

  • When: Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: The Alhambra Theater
  • Details: Come and enjoy this fun Halloween thriller for a free, spooky movie night in downtown Hopkinsville.

Halloween crafts with HBC

  • When: Oct. 12 from 2-4 p.m.
  • Where: Hopkinsville Brewing Company
  • Details: This event promises to be an evening filled with fun and witchy vibes. Participants will have the unique opportunity to choose from a witches kettle doormat or porch leaner. With several stencils to choose from. This is a pre-pay event, each seat is $50 with limited availability. All seats come with one drink.

Torchlight Tales

  • When: Oct. 18 from 6-8 p.m.
  • Where: Jeffers Bend Environmental Center
  • Details: Bring a chair and blanket and get cozy by the campfire while local historians and costumed performers share the legend of the Bell Witch. There will also be a Halloween costume contest, hot chocolate, and smores.

GoblinCon UFO & Paranormal Expo

  • When: Oct. 17-18
  • Where: The Bruce
  • Details: Join Visit Hopkinsville for the 2-day GoblinCon UFO and Paranormal Expo celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Kelly/Hopkinsville Goblin and all things paranormal! 7th Annual Hoptown Half Marathon

  • When: Oct. 18
  • Where: Christian County Justice Center
  • Details: 13-mile half marathon and 5K race with a path winding through downtown Hopkinsville, residential areas, the Christian County countryside, and across the Rail Trail bridge.

Hopkinsville Community College Fall Fest

  • When: Oct. 23 from 5-7 p.m.
  • Where: 720 North Drive Hopkinsville, Kentucky

Unity Breakfast 2025

  • When: Oct. 23 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Where: The Bruce
  • Details: The Human Rights Commission invites you to attend the 51st Annual Unity Breakfast. This year’s theme is “Humility…Unity…Peace.” Our keynote speaker will be the Honorable Judge Andrew Self, Circuit Court Judge of Christian County.

Halloween Movie Night: Ghostbusters Frozen Empire

  • Where: Thomas Street Recreation Center
  • Details: Food trucks and pre-show activities, including a costume contest, with a Halloween themed movie showing at 7 p.m. on a giant inflatable screen set up in the gym.

MAC Chili Cook-Off and Cornbread Challenge

  • When: Oct. 25 at 2:30- 5 p.m.
  • Where: Founders Square in downtown Hopkinsville
  • Details: Bring your best flavors, your biggest appetites, and your game face — because the winning team could walk away with up to $1,000 in prize money! Halloween in the Grove

  • When: Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.

Downtown Trick or Treat

  • When: Oct. 31 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
