HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Christian County Public Schools has announced Carrie Caples as the new principal of Alternative Programming, beginning with the 2026-27 school year. Caples currently serves as principal of the Bluegrass Learning Academy.
“Ms. Caples brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in alternative education,” said CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “With the expansion of the district’s alternative programs next school year and a move to a new location, Ms. Caples is the ideal choice to continue leading with her expertise and compassion for students in alternative settings.”
Caples has a long and distinguished career with Christian County Public Schools. She began her journey with the district as a bus monitor, bus driver, and instructional assistant while completing her post-secondary education. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Education from Murray State University, she began teaching at Morningside Elementary. Two years later, she joined Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary, where she taught until 2017 before becoming principal of the school.
“I consider it a true honor and privilege to work with students whom some may label as at-risk,” said Caples. “I prefer to see them as at-promise, because I believe deeply in their strengths, potential, and resilience.”
A graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Caples continued her studies at Hopkinsville Community College and Murray State University. She holds a Rank I certification and dual master’s degrees from Walden University and Murray State University, along with an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education from Western Kentucky University.
