HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Families will have a chance to watch the one and only Santa Claus team up with Hopkinsville firefighters to spread Christmas cheer throughout the city. On Dec. 14, the Hopkinsville Fire Department will be escorting him through neighborhoods as Santa trades his sleigh for a fire truck.

Residents can stand on the curb or lawn and wave as he comes down the street, making his way through a route from 1-3 p.m. Festive helpers from the Hopkinsville Police Department will also be tagging along to pass out goodie bags.

The newly established tradition was first started during the pandemic as a way to stay socially distanced while still having the chance to see Santa. Now in its sixth year, families across the city still enjoy watching him go by.

An updated route map will soon be available on the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation website, with a GPS tracker also available. They will start at Fire Station 1 before making their way around downtown neighborhoods and returning to the station.
