HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A police car in Hopkinsville was struck Wednesday night by a driver who had been drinking.
A collision report from Hopkinsville Police Department states that a police car was in active pursuit on Fort Campbell Boulevard around 9 p.m. on Oct. 18. The police car’s lights and sirens were on during the pursuit.
The driver of the second vehicle was leaving the parking lot of the Exxon station when she struck the police car near the back on the driver’s side, causing her to spin out. After the collision, it was discovered she recently had a few drinks at Buffalo Wild Wings. According to police, her car was severely damaged in the crash.
Witness reports and video surveillance confirm that the police car had its lights on before the crash. The driver claims she did not see the police car coming. The driver of the police car and the other vehicle were transported to Jennie Stuart for evaluation.
HPD reports the driver also had lapsed car insurance, and a subpoena for the results of blood alcohol taken by the hospital will be obtained.
