Loretta Dunning Atkins, 91, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Hunter Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Christian County, KY she was born October 15, 1932, the daughter of the late James Estin Dunning and Alma Fay Wiggins Dunning. She was a graduate of Bethel College. She was retired from banking having spent most of her career at the Old Planters Bank and retiring from Sovran Bank. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caryl Atkins Henderson.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years: Herman Atkins; her sons: James Steven (Helen) Atkins of Indianapolis, IN, Michael David (Kay) Atkins of Fancy Farm, KY, and Kevin Ray (Karen) of Lexington, KY; her grandchildren: Logan (Candace) Atkins, Bryan (Courtney) Atkins, Jonathan Atkins, and Kristin (Wyatt) Miles; and ten great grandchildren.
