HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was arrested Friday after assaulting nurses at a medical facility, causing one of them to lose consciousness.
On March 6 around 1:50 p.m. a person from Cumberland Hall Hospital in Hopkinsville reported that a patient had assaulted workers and another patient. Located on Walton Way, the facility is a behavioral health center that provides care for people with emotional disorders, psychiatric conditions and addiction.
An arrest report from the Hopkinsville Police Department says the suspect, a 35-year-old male patient, was restrained by staff while officers responded. Witnesses say the suspect kicked a nurse in the arm, causing injury, and dragged another nurse through the hallway after knocking her unconscious.
HPD says another patient was also assaulted when the suspect grabbed them by the hood of their sweater and shook them.
The man was arrested and is facing three assault charges, including assault of a healthcare provider.
