HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to Love’s Country Store on Fort Campbell Boulevard after a manager found a credit card skimming device on one of the pumps.
The store had video footage showed to men pulling up to diesel pump 18 in a Ford truck on April 28 just after 3 p.m. While the passenger fueled the truck, the driver, a 38-year-old Florida man, was seen grabbing something from the vehicle and messing with the credit card machine on the pump. The manager found the device the next morning.
Surveillance video was able to capture a partial license plate on the vehicle, and the truck matching the description was seen pulling back up to the gas station the day after the skimmer was installed. After being approached by officers, the suspect told HPD that he was only pumping fuel at the time in question, according to an arrest report.
He was arrested and taken to the Christian County Jail on April 29 and is currently charged with unlawful access to a computer in the first degree.
