HOPKINSVILLE, KY –The City of Hopkinsville has approved updates to its Net Profit License Fee structure through Ordinance No. 09-2026. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2026, and are intended to reduce fees for many businesses while establishing a simplified processing structure for all filers.

The approved changes include:

  • A reduction in the Net Profit License Fee rate from 1.5% to 1.3%.
  • A reduction in the minimum license fee from $250 to $100 for businesses grossing more than $25,000 annually.
  • A new $25 processing fee for businesses grossing $25,000 or less, which were previously exempt from renewal fees.

Penalty and interest charges may apply if returns are filed after the deadline.

The changes will first apply to businesses with a March 31 fiscal year-end, whose Net Profit License Fee Returns will be due to the city on July 15, 2026.

The city is working to ensure businesses and tax professionals are informed ahead of the effective date through updated forms, direct notifications, and public outreach efforts.
