HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A mother and daughter were arrested after removing over $3,000 in tools from a local hardware store.

Hopkinsville Police responded to Lowes on Fort Campbell Boulevard on May 14 in response to a theft around 2 p.m. An employee at the store had reported that two women had removed two carts full of merchandise from the store and were inside getting another cart.

The women abandoned the third cart in the parking lot, and their license plate number was given to HPD. An officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle near the store, and several items were seen in the backseat, according to an arrest report.

HPD says all of the items were recovered in good condition at a value of $3,162.74, ranging from hand tools to miscellaneous power tools. The 35-year-old Hopkinsville woman was found to be a former employee of the store, and the second suspect was her 51-year-old mother from Dyersburg, Tennessee.

They were both arrested are being charged with shoplifting.
