CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On May 7 detectives with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office began working a copper wire theft of over $20,000 in Crofton. After an extensive investigation, detectives arrested four individuals who were connected to the theft, according to a news release on May 29.
The theft occurred in an area off of 22525 Coal Creek Road in Christian County where suspects were seen taking solar panel sheets and cutting of various wiring. CCSO says this theft led to extensive damage to equipment costing upward of $950,000.
During the arrest of 50-year-old Craig Willey of Hopkinsville, a search yielded glass pipes and drug paraphernalia that was around two young children living in the home. Willey was charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, and Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree.
Also involved in the theft was 41-year-old Paul Edmonds of Crofton, who was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Over $10,000.00. Another suspect, 41-year-old Mark Holsapple of Hopkinsville, was charged with Criminal Trespass 1st Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree.
Finally, 39-year-old Jacob Baker of Crofton was charged with Criminal Mischief and Theft by unlawful taking as a result of the investigation.
