HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Longtime hair stylist and Hopkinsville native Katelyn Rigney has found a permanent home for Ruby’s Beauty Bar on East Sixth Street after several years of moves. Her new location blends an eclectic vintage style with the historic space, fulfilling a career-long goal for her.

“My dream was to always be on Sixth Street…as soon as I walked in, it felt like I was supposed to be here. I shed tears,” she told Christian County Now. Rigney offers a range of cut and coloring services alongside her shop dog who provides snuggles and cuddles to clients with her freshly manicured paws. The salon was given the name Ruby in honor of her great grandmother and her nana with the same name.

“I’ve known that I was supposed to do hair since I was five years old, I never dreamed about doing anything else, said Rigney, adding that she opened up her first salon in 2020 in nearby Clarksville, Tennessee in the midst of the pandemic, and has made many moves before landing at the newly opened location this summer.

Her cousin is also part of the salon, integrating Chaney’s Nails into the space with intricate gel and acrylic services available for clients. As the sole hair stylist at Ruby’s, Rigney has remained consistent to her loyal customers over the years and was excited to bring them along for the journey.

Rigney shared the pride she feels at this new location saying, “It’s just the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I feel like doing hair is exactly what I was made for, and loving on people is what I was made for. I’m glad that I get to do it in a space that feels like me and I get to do it in my community…it’s emotional and it’s wonderful.”
