HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Public Schools has announced the candidates and timeline to fill the vacant 2nd District Board seat. The Board will hold a Special Called Board meeting on Monday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. to review applications.

The final decision will be made by Kentucky Department of Education Interim Commissioner, Robin Fields Kinney, according to a press release from CCPSS.

The three applicants are Ambrea Watkins, Virginia Erxleben and Marsha Garnett. All three candidates meet the qualifications laid out by the Kentucky Department of Education to fill the seat.

“There is a good process in place to fill the unexpired seat,” said CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “I trust the Board will work hard to see the right candidate is selected. I am looking forward to working with the new District 2 representative.”

If a candidate is selected from the current pool of applicants, the candidate would take office immediately and be sworn in during the Nov. 16 regular meeting with Rebecca Pepper, who was recently elected to fill an unexpired term.
