HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a teenager injured late Monday night off of Stone Valley Drive.

Emergency crews and police responded to residence on the 3600 block of Velma Drive around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 3, according to Captain Payton Rogers with Hopkinsville Fire/EMS. He said a 17-year-old girl was shot in the back inside a vehicle by another juvenile who was with her.

Christian County Now news partner Dash 10 Media says the victim was transported via helicopter for treatment at a Nashville, Tennessee hospital. A large police presence was surrounding the residence overnight as HPD investigated. Her current condition is unknown.
