- Details: The 6th Annual Taste of the Town returns as an Eighth of August celebration featuring a food truck feast, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. Guests can enjoy a variety of local food vendors while celebrating freedom, food and community during the two-day downtown event. Saturday will start with an 8K run.
Living Legacies: The Humphries Family Speaks

- When: Aug. 7, reception at 5:30 p.m., program at 6 p.m.

- Details: As part of the Eighth of August observance, the Human Rights Commission Hopkinsville-Christian County will host a conversation with the Humphries family featuring storytelling and reflections on family, shared history and the enduring legacy of the Emancipation celebration. A reception will precede the program.
- Where: The Book and Bottle Shop in Hopkinsville
- When: Aug. 7, 6-8 p.m.
- Cost: Free admission
- Details: Share original poems, perform a favorite author’s piece, or simply enjoy a night of creativity and community around the art form of writing. Performances of all kinds are welcome and encouraged, registration is encouraged.
Sunshine and Soul Culture Fest
- Where: Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County in Hopkinsville
- When: Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Cost: Free
- Details: Celebrate culture and community during the Sunshine and Soul Culture Fest featuring live music, dance performances, art, food and family-friendly activities. Hosted by the Human Rights Commission Hopkinsville-Christian County, the festival is part of the community’s Eighth of August celebration and welcomes attendees of all ages.

- When: Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Cost: Included with regular farm admission or farm and mini golf combo admission
- Details: Christian Way Farm & Mini Golf will host Splash Day with a giant water slide, bubble stations, kiddie pools and other water activities for children of all ages. Guests can also enjoy the farm’s regular attractions, including animal feeding, the lawnmower train and outdoor play areas, throughout the day.

- When: Aug. 8, doors open at 4:30 p.m., event begins at 5 p.m.

- Details: The inaugural Fall Sports Meet the Tigers event will give the community its first opportunity to visit the new Hopkinsville Rotary Arena at Christian County High School. Families can meet coaches and student-athletes from the school’s fall sports teams, including cross country, golf, volleyball, soccer, cheer, dance and football. The Christian County Tiger Band will debut the school’s new fight song, and all-season passes and volleyball chairback seats will be available for purchase.
