HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville woman is being charged with criminal abuse after locking her daughter out of the house for an extended period of time while intoxicated.
On Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4:54 p.m. during the arrest, the woman told officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department that she returned home from a party with her nine-year-old daughter the night before at 10 p.m. Due to her level of intoxication, she passed out inside thinking her daughter was with her at the North Elm Street residence.
When she woke up, she could not find her daughter in the house and called 911, according to the police report. Officers were able to locate her daughter, who said that the door was locked and she “beat on the door” multiple times with no answer. It was determined that she was locked out of the house for around 17 hours.
The woman was placed under arrest and is being charged with criminal child abuse/neglect in the second degree.
