HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man who was driving 75 mph in a 55 mph work zone on the Pennyrile Parkway sped away when authorities tried to pull him over on Aug. 19.
While on patrol, Deputy J. Warner observed a Dodge Charger speeding so he activated his emergency equipment. Upon following the vehicle, the driver accelerated even more, almost hitting other motorists on the roadway, according to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident came to an end when the driver hit an embankment on Binns Mill Road. The driver, along with a female passenger, ran from the scene, btu they were apprehended a short distance away. The driver told officers he ran because he didn’t have insurance on the car and he just changed his tags from his Jeep to the Charger he was driving, the CCSO said.
The two were arrested and booked into the Christian County jail.
