Ronnie Houchens, 83, of Hopkinsville, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Brother Jeremy Hayes officiating and burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Garden. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Houchens was born May 15, 1940, in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of the late William Carl Houchens and Kathryn Page Jones. Ronnie worked for 28 years as a truck driver for Southern States. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Ronnie was a farmer and loved his family and quail hunting with his son Bill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Shann Houchens; his brothers, Donnie Houchens, Clay Houchens, and Roy Houchens.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cassandra Simpson Houchens of Hopkinsville; his daughters, Ellen Skinner (Doug) of Hopkinsville, Rhonda Howell (Jerry Cole) of Hopkinsville, Becky Spann (Bill) of Hopkinsville; his son, Jeff Houchens (Anna) of Hopkinsville; his sisters, Ilene Long of Christian County, Elaine Perry (Raymond) of Hopkinsville, Janice Mayes of Hopkinsville, Linda Curtis (Bill) of Hopkinsville, Pam Dill of Hopkinsville, and Kathy Marsh of Hopkinsville; his grandchildren, Brittany Cunningham (Justin) and Emma Spann; his great-grandchildren, Laylah Vowels and Brooks Cunningham; his two granddaughters; and his seven great-grandchildren.
