HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Police received a report of a hit and run crash Tuesday night, only to learn the same vehicle was involved in another crash on Canton Street.

The suspect sideswiped another vehicle, causing them to go off the roadway and into a ditch. The suspect then hit another unoccupied vehicle causing a domino effect collision of two other unoccupied vehicles, said a police report.

Two open alcohol containers were found in the suspect’s vehicle after a search. He told officers he had been drinking and later said this was his fourth or fifth DUI incident. He was also driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI charge. The suspect refused a field sobriety test, and later refused a blood draw at Jennie Stuart Health to test for alcohol consumption.

The driver is facing many charges including possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving on DUI suspended license.
