HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to a disturbance on Saturday, Jan. 20 where a woman wanted to receive an Emergency Protective Order against the father of her child.
When officers arrived on Walnut Street and began to escort her to the police station for the EPO, the suspect fired a gun several times in front of the residence around 1 a.m.
The shooter was seen running into the house where their son was located, according to a police report. After more officers arrived on scene for backup, they called for the suspect to come out of the house. He then came out holding his son in his arms.
In the police report, officers say it was clear the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. He also refused to tell officers where the firearm is located. He is being charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
