HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Meet Smoke. He is a 3-year-old tabby DSH that was released to the shelter after he was becoming jealous of the grandbaby. He has never been around other cats, so we are unsure how he would do. He does not like dogs, so he will need to be in a home without them. He is good with children and enjoys meeting new people. He is litter box trained. He knows the commands “Stay”, “Down”, “Come”, and “Fetch”. He is declawed, so he will be required to be an indoor cat only! He gets scared in the car, but he does okay at the vet. His favorite toys are stuffed animals and balls. He has been given his first round of vaccines and is FLV/FIV/HW NEGATIVE as of 03/06/2024. He has already been neutered as well. He is now ready to find his new purr-ever home! Smoke’s adoption fee is $42.50.

Meet Dug. He is a 2-year-old Terrier mix that was released to the shelter because they were being forced to move. He was good with the other dogs and cats that he came in with, so he should do fine with your other animals! He loves children as well! The previous owner said that he is house trained, but he has had quite a few accidents here at the shelter just while be processed. He seemed really nervous though, so he could do just fine at your house once he settles in. He is worth a trial adoption to see if he would work out! He has been given his first round of vaccines and is heartworm negative as of 03/02/2024. Dug is now ready to find his new furr-ever home! Dug’s adoption fee is $83.
