HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Fiscal Court has received a grant totaling $117,463 to help fund the development of a mountain bike skills training park on the Christian County side of the Pennyrile Forest State Park.
In March 2024, Christian County officials approved the resolution to apply for this grant funding. The park will feature a training and practice area for bikers who may be new to trails. The course would be fully accessible to Christian County residents and the design would incorporate natural materials.
Jessica Kaminski, a Community Development Specialist in Christian County previously told Christian County Now that the estimation for the project is $146,000.
“Investing in our parks and recreational spaces is an investment in the future of our communities,” said Amy Frogue, Community and Economic Development Director. “These projects will not only enhance outdoor opportunities for residents but also attract visitors, promote healthy lifestyles, and support local economies.”
This funding is part of a broader effort through Recreational Trails Program and the Land & Water Conservation Fund, both aimed at supporting trail development, park improvements, and outdoor facility upgrades.
