OAK GROVE, KY – The Southeast Festivals and Events Association honored the region’s top event professionals in Mississippi during the 2026 Kaleidoscope Awards Gala. With 187 applications submitted from across the Southeast, the competition reflected the creativity, scale, and impact of festivals and events that continue to drive tourism, strengthen local economies, and bring communities together.
Among those recognized was the annual Butterfly Festival hosted by the Oak Grove Tourism & Convention Commission, which received the Silver Award for Best Children’s Event.
The Butterfly Festival has become a signature, family-friendly celebration in Oak Grove, offering interactive educational exhibits, live entertainment, hands-on activities, and its highly anticipated butterfly release. Designed to inspire children and families through nature, learning, and community connection, the festival continues to grow each year in attendance and regional draw.
“I am beyond proud of my team for their hard work and dedication to the Butterfly Festival,” said Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of the Oak Grove Tourism & Convention Commission. “I am honored to share this special event with visitors and community members every year. Winning this award means more to us than a title or a trophy on a shelf. It’s a reminder of why we do this in the first place.”
“These awards represent the heart behind our festivals,” Cunningham continued. “They reflect the laughter in the crowd, the pride we feel when everything comes together, and the commitment our team pours into every single detail. They’re proof that the hard work, the risk-taking, and the belief in something bigger than ourselves truly matter.”
The recognition highlights Oak Grove’s continued commitment to creating high-quality, meaningful experiences that not only entertain but also educate and strengthen community bonds. As the Butterfly Festival looks ahead to another year, organizers remain focused on expanding opportunities for families to gather, learn, and create lasting memories together.
