HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – 25 dogs are now being housed at the Christian County Animal Shelter after being rescued from a home in nearby Todd County. The shelter was called to the residence on Tuesday, with the assistance of Todd County Animal Control.

“They were rescued from deplorable conditions in Todd County today,” said a statement from the shelter. “They have been processed and will be posted as soon as we can get better pictures. Most are very scared right now and are going to need some time to relax.”

The rescues are a victim of animal cruelty due to the conditions of the home and are all Corso mix dogs of various ages. They are currently on a five day hold at the shelter before any adoptions can take place. In order to make room for all of the 25 dogs, the shelter is looking for volunteers to foster.

“With any luck we will be busy as can be tomorrow getting some sweet babies into home settings and ensuring everyone has enough room,” the shelter said. “We’d like to thank our community for all of the love and support you show us and our animal control officers.”

They stressed that additional volunteers will be needed to care for the dogs as they come in to assist with baths, nail trims, and quality play time for the rescues. Find updates about the dogs on the Christian County Animal Shelter Facebook page.

It is unclear if charges have been filed at this time in connection to the rescue. Christian County Now has reached out to law enforcement for more information.
