OAK GROVE, KY – Are you ready to spread your wings and experience one of Kentucky’s most unique family-friendly festivals? Oak Grove Tourism is proud to announce the 18th Annual Butterfly Festival, taking place on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 101 Walter Garrett Lane, within the War Memorial Walking Trail in Oak Grove, Kentucky.
Recognized with multiple international, regional, and state tourism awards, the Butterfly Festival has become one of Western Kentucky’s premier educational and family-friendly events, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The festival celebrates the beauty of butterflies while promoting conservation, environmental education, and outdoor recreation through hands-on activities for all ages.
“Our Butterfly Festival has become a signature event that families look forward to every year,” said Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of Oak Grove Tourism. “For 18 years, we’ve created an experience that blends fun with education while inspiring visitors to appreciate the important role butterflies and pollinators play in our environment. It’s an event where children can learn, families can make lasting memories, and everyone can enjoy the beauty of nature.”
What to expect at this year’s Butterfly Festival
Festival goers can enjoy a full day of exciting attractions and interactive experiences, including:
- 3,000 live butterflies released at 4 p.m.
- Wheels of Agriculture game show
- Walk-through butterfly house
- Children’s train rides
- Zipline adventures
- Petting zoo
- Giant bubble zone
- Green screen photo experience
- Balloon artist
- Kids’ interactive arts and crafts tables
- Food vendors
- Kiddie carnival rides
Set among the beautiful scenery of Oak Grove’s War Memorial Walking Trail, the Butterfly Festival offers a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience that combines entertainment, education, and community spirit. Admission is free, making it an affordable destination for families from across Kentucky, Tennessee, and the surrounding region.
The Butterfly Festival is one of Oak Grove Tourism’s three internationally recognized signature festivals and continues to showcase why tourism remains one of the area’s strongest economic drivers. Please, no pets or alcohol. Service animals are welcome. All coolers and large bags are subject to search. Please be patient with parking and come early.
