HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The city has approved tax incentives for a new 150,000 square foot commercial warehouse development in Hopkinsville. Bypass Warehouse LLC is planning to invest at least $5 million into a proposed facility located on Commerce Court.
During the April 8 meeting of the Hopkinsville City Council, a municipal order was approved that authorizes the developer to retain 80% of the ad valorem tax revenue for the next five years that would otherwise be paid to the city. The project is eligible for the benefit due to its location within the retail incentive district.
The development is anticipated to promote economic development and provide necessary commercial warehouse space to the city and the county. It will also provide additional revenue to the city through the collection of occupational license fees. The city will still receive 20% of the new tax revenue, while the rebate incentivizes investors.
