HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Men 2 Be in Hopkinsville is hosting the Echoes of Hopkinsville Live Wax Museum on Feb. 15 featuring local youth with the organization. This interactive experience will have members representing past, present, and future African American male figures who have made significant impacts in the community. This fundraiser allows the organization to provide the necessary tools to their growing number of participants.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come out and support our young gentlemen as they engage in something positive and educational, focusing on the rich history of our city and beyond,” said LaDessa Lewis the founder of Men 2 Be. “Your presence not only encourages them but also shows where donations go and how they benefit our programs.”
Participating seniors will portray their future selves, showcasing their aspirations and the legacy they hope to build, according to Lewis. Other younger members will highlight prominent figures from local institutions such as Milton’s Attucks High School and the Pioneers, sharing their contributions and influence in the community. John Anderson, Ted Poston, Mitchell Faulkner, John Brim, Quentin Tyler, Dr. Chester Crump, Arnold Lynch, and Freddie Montgomery are a few of the featured men.
“We have a passionate group of participants who are excited to research and represent these influential figures. They have put in a tremendous amount of hard work to ensure they portray everyone well, and their enthusiasm is contagious!” added Lewis. “We invite everyone to come out, enjoy a fun and interactive experience, and help us celebrate the achievements of our young men.”
Guests will also be able to see local authors, check out art showcasing local talent, and purchase Men 2 Be merchandise. Hot breakfast will be served, and people can vote for their community favorite. The Live Wax Museum will take place between 9 a.m. and noon on Feb. 15 at Christian County Middle School. Tickets can be purchased on the Men 2 Be website for $25.
