HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The playground at the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park got a fresh update, courtesy of Parks and Recreation and Public Works. It was closed all winter while the old equipment was removed and replaced. It is now open to the public just in time for warmer weather.
“We have a replacement and update rotation to make sure that the equipment at each is safe, up to current codes, and a beautiful addition to our local parks,” said Rachel Sanders with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation. “We were happy to be able to get the replacement completed in time for spring.”

The new equipment includes a new swing set, slides, and play structure. This is one of 18 playgrounds spread throughout Hopkinsville.
It’s location at the Trail of Tears allows convenient access to the Hopkinsville Visitors Center, the Trail of Tears memorial, a walking trail, heritage center, and disc golf course.
