HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The 76th Hopkinsville Rotary Auction is right around the corner with Rotarians and community members gearing up for the exciting week to come.

This year’s auction is from April 20-25, beginning at 6 p.m. each night at the War Memorial Building, 1202 South Virginia Street. The annual auction serves one main purpose: to raise money for students in the community to continue their education.

“The Rotary Auction is about letting our community be involved in raising funds for youth and educational initiatives in Christian County,” said Brett Pritchett, Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Vice President and Auction Chair. “The community is always so generous that we don’t feel a need to set a certain goal.”

He added that last year they had their largest auction to date, raising a total of $634,383.98 with Landon Stallons at the chair.

What to expect from this year’s auction in Hopkinsville

During the six-day event many items will be auctioned, including restaurant gift cards, local art pieces, home supplies, appliances, tools, outdoor equipment and much more. All funds raised will go back into the community for students.

To additionally raise money, their Rotary Diner will also be open each evening with specials that include jambalaya, a smoked chicken plate, catfish, and a ribeye sandwich.

The Rotary Scholars Program, which gives two years of tuition-free schooling to any student who graduates high school in the Christian County Area, will also be funded by the auction. Community grants will be given to local youth as well.

Pritchett said he is excited to host the event as auction chair and help raise money for students. He said, “I grew up in this area and am a long-time educator, so I know how important our youth and the educational initiatives we do are to this community.”

The auction will be live streamed each night on the Hopkinsville Rotary Club’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person. For more information, contact the Hopkinsville Rotary Club at 270-886-3034.
