HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was charged with trafficking drugs following a search of his residence on North McPherson Avenue Thursday morning. The search was conducted as part of an ongoing drug investigation by law enforcement.
According to reports, detectives from the Hopkinsville Police Department forced entry into the residence after making multiple announcements without any response from the 19-year-old suspect. Police said they could hear noise and movement inside.
Upon entry, the suspect was in the kitchen standing under a hole in the ceiling. Police detained him, and during the execution of the search warrant they found a backpack inside the hole in the ceiling. Inside the bag, detectives located a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal like substance, a Mason jar containing suspected marijuana, an electric scale with white powder residue on it, and a rubber-banded roll of cash totaling over $400.
The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, first-degree trafficking meth, and tampering with physical evidence.
