HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two men turned themselves into Hopkinsville Police in connection to a shooting that took place at an apartment complex in February.

On Sunday Feb. 9, gunfire was exchanged in the parking lot of Aspen Meadows Apartments on Denzil Drive. Damage from the bullets was found on a front window and door of an apartment. Shortly after the shots were fired, an individual walked into Jennie Stuart Hospital with a gunshot wound who lived at the apartment complex.

18-year-old Demontae Burse and 20-year-old Jwon Thomas surrendered themselves to HPD on Feb. 26 after warrants were issued for their arrest in connection to the shooting.

It was determined that the gunfire was a result of a dispute after Burse broke up with his girlfriend. Thomas brought a multi-caliber rifle to the apartment complex, shots were fired toward Burse, and Thomas eventually fired a rifle at least three times toward the apartment while leaving, and again from the parking lot.

Burse is being charged with wanton endangerment in the first degree for discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. Thomas is also facing a wanton endangerment charge. Both have been arrested and placed at Christian County Jail.
