HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville-Christian County Downtown Farmers Market, situated at the intersection of Ninth Street and Main Street, is kicking off its 2024 season May 2. Little Creek Family Farm is one of the returning vendors people can expect to see this season. This year, LCFF will be offering pasture raised chicken, pork, free range eggs, grass finished lamb, fresh produce and cut flowers.

David and Elizabeth Littleton manage the regenerative farm, and this will be their third year at the market. Elizabeth explained that regenerative agriculture is a philosophy focusing on reduced water practices and preventing land degradation and deforestation. One thing they focus on is using all natural ingredients to cultivate their land and improve their soil by avoiding chemicals or harsh fertilizers.

Elizabeth explains that the market has been such a supporting tight knit community. “Everybody wants it to succeed,” said Elizabeth. “I’m really excited for this year, and I think it’s going to be a good one.”

Starting out

Little Creek Farm is located northeast of Hopkinsville and was inspired by Elizabeth’s upbringing. She has lived in Hopkinsville for 20 years on her family’s land with her five siblings. When she was young, her dad had a job in town and her mom homeschooled Elizabeth and her brothers and sisters. As the oldest, she helped her parents harvest beef, milk calves, and tend the garden.

After receiving her bachelor’s in agriculture communications from Murray State, and her husband got out of the military, the couple purchased their own land to start their own family farm.

Visit the Downtown Farmers Market on Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. to meet Elizabeth and see the all the products from Little Creek Farm.
