HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A bicyclist received minor injuries after he collided with a truck on Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Highway Friday evening.

The pick-up truck was driving around 60 mph when the accident occurred. The driver told Hopkinsville Police that he didn’t realize his right turn signal was on. The bicycle pulled out of the median and into the path of the truck thinking the truck was making a right turn.

The driver tried to swerve to avoid the collision, but the bike hit the driver side of the truck bed, says a police report. The bicyclist told officers he attempted relax during the crash so the injuries would be less severe. He was transported to Jennie Stuart Health for suspected minor injuries and chest pain.
