HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Colonel Band and the Hopkinsville Band of Tigers showcased award worthy performances at their respective competitions, bringing home top honors at the beginning of the competition season during their last year competing as separate high schools before consolidation.
According to the CCPS director of fine arts Anthony Darnall, at the Daviess County Fall Spectacular, the Christian County Colonels earned Overall Grand Champion, capturing top awards for Best Overall Percussion, Best Overall Guard, and 1st Place in Class 4A. During this, they competed against bands from across the region.
The Hopkinsville Band of Tigers competed at the Logan County Festival of Bands, where they earned Reserve Grand Champion, finishing narrowly behind South Warren. The Tigers also took home Best Overall Guard honors and 1st Place in Class 4A, outshining a strong field including Mayfield, Dawson Springs, Trigg County, Monroe County, Russellville, Todd County, and more in the region.
“With their recent achievements fueling their momentum, the Christian County Colonels and Hopkinsville Tigers look forward to continuing their competitive success on this highly anticipated stage,” said Darnall.
Both bands are now preparing to compete at the Murray State Festival of Champions.
