HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Cattleman’s Association is bringing the rodeo to town on Aug. 15 and Aug 16. at the Western Kentucky Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville.
Audience members will be able to witness competitors with the Lone Star Rodeo Company tackle bareback bronc riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, bull riding, chuck wagon racing, team roping, and more. There will be activities for kids 30 minutes prior to showtime, and a best dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest. Rodeo Clown Mike Wentworth will also be there entertaining the crowds.
Proceeds from the rodeo will benefit scholarships for Christian County youth to forward agriculture education. According to Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam, they have managed to raise about $100,000 through the rodeo over the years.
Show times will start Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. On Friday night, there will be a live concert from Josh Weathers right after the rodeo. General admission tickets are $20 per adult, $12 for kids over the age of four. They can be purchased on site, or on the Lone Star Rodeo website in advance.
