OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – During the Sept. 2 Oak Grove City Council meeting, Public Works Director Brian Ahart shared that construction for Buc-ee’s could begin as soon as November. This announcement is the first update from the city since June, when it was confirmed that construction was going to be delayed past the initial summer estimation.
Ahart confirmed that KYTC has now solidified road plans for the interchange that will need to be constructed, and the project will be put out for bid at the end of the year. This allows the project to move forward in the meantime.
According to Ahart, Buc-ee’s officials have begun surveying the future location off of Exit 89 and have submitted building and site plans already. The building plans have been approved and depending on how quickly the site plans move forward, construction could begin before winter.
Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver previously told Christian County Now that KYTC’s plans include constructing multiple roundabouts, rebuilding the interstate exit ramp, and possibly moving a city street. She had clarified that Buc-ee’s will be able to start construction before the roads are complete.
Meanwhile, Buc-ees is surveying locations to place a water tank and install new waterlines that are necessary for construction.
