HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A stolen gun with restricted ammunition was found after a Hopkinsville man led police on a short foot pursuit Monday night.
On Aug. 10 just after 7 p.m., officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at an apartment on Sivley Road. The caller reported that two men were attempting to force entry into her apartment.
Officers were able to observe two individuals who matched the description given by the caller, and attempted to make contact, according to an arrest report from HPD. One of the men, later identified as Deontray Boler of Hopkinsville, fled on foot when officers approached and did not comply with verbal instructions to stop.
The foot pursuit went through the nearby apartment building, where police ultimately caught up with him and placed him into custody near Northwind Drive. A search of his person revealed two marijuana vape pens and a bystander advised police that he had discarded a firearm underneath a nearby vehicle. The gun was located and it was found the be loaded and chambered with restricted ammunition and was reported stolen.
Boler was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, using restricted ammo during felony (no shots), and tampering with physical evidence.
