HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Burn Ban that had been in place for The City of Hopkinsville and all of Christian County has now been lifted as rainfall came through the region.
“Thanks to Mother Nature, the Burn Ban set in place for Hopkinsville has been canceled. Please continue to use caution when burning. Remember, open burns larger than 3x3x3 in size must be permitted,” said a statement from HFD.
On Sept. 12, Hopkinsville Fire Chief Steven Futrell issued a Burn Ban due to the extremely dry and potentially hazardous conditions which would cause fires to potentially spread very quickly. This included debris burning, bonfires, open fire pits, and campfires.
After over a week of drought conditions, more rain is expected with overnight precipitation occurring and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
