HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With the sun shining and a cool morning breeze, Heather Braun Director of Hopkinsville Beautification and students from Christian County High School began filling the planters and pots downtown in celebration of Earth Day.

Plants from the Christian County High School greenhouse filled up over fifty planters downtown including the four long planters at Founder’s Square, and the long garden bed at the Train Depot. Students put on their gardening gloves and planted petunia, canna, begonia, lantana, vinca, miniature sunflowers, and verbana.

Braun says she will also be planting salvia, sage, and basil in the beds by Founder’s Square in recognition of the farmer’s market. Students began planting around 10 a.m. Monday morning and filled downtown with color, and fresh spring scents by the afternoon.
